A one-off MenB vaccination programme is being introduced across the UK ahead of the 2026/27 academic year. This means it is only being offered for a limited time. The programme is for school leavers and some young people under 25 who are starting university or residential further education for the first time. Who can get the vaccine, and how you get it, depends on whether you are in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

If you’re eligible, you will need two doses of the MenB vaccine for the best protection. Where possible, you should get both doses before starting university, college or residential further education. In England, the programme is available to:

• Young people currently in Year 13, born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008, whatever their future education plans.

• People under 25 starting university as an undergraduate for the first time in autumn 2026. • People under 25 moving into residential further education accommodation for the first time in autumn 2026.

• International students under 25 entering their first year of university. Eligible Year 13 students will be contacted by the NHS. Vaccination will be delivered through participating community pharmacies. How do I get the MenB vaccine?

• For routine vaccinations, your GP surgery should contact you to offer the vaccine for your baby. If they don’t, contact them directly.

• For the one-off MenB vaccination programme, how you get the vaccine depends on where you live. • In England, eligible young people will be vaccinated through participating community pharmacies. Young people in the Year 13 age group should be contacted through the NHS app, text, email or letter.

Pharmacies can offer advice about a range of illnesses, medications and treatments for certain illnesses that don't need a prescription.

Most pharmacies can also offer prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP or make an appointment. This is called Pharmacy First. It's always worth a visit to your pharmacy first!

Patients eligible for Covid &/or Flu vaccination include:

• Adults aged 75 years and over
• Residents in a care home for older adults
• Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed ( as defined in Green Book, chapter 14a)

Additional Patients eligible for Flu vaccination only:

• Adults aged 65 years and over ( as at 31/03/2026)
• Those aged 18 years to under 65 in clinical risk groups (as defined by the Green Book, Influenza chapter 19)
• Those in long stay residential care homes
• Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly of disabled person
• Household contacts of an immunosuppressed individual
• Frontline health and social workers without access to an employer led occupational health scheme
